Do you ever get business cards and want to hold on to them but just don’t know where to put them?
Yea, me too.
For a long time we kept ours on our fridge. But y’all…eventually this momma just got sick and tired of them falling off and having to pick them back up. Not to mention as our business card collection started to grow the fridge became too crowded to hold much more.
Obviously, I needed to find a better solution.
I rummaged through my yarn collection and found some thin yarn that I would never use for a larger project (simply because I’m too impatient). Then I grabbed an appropriate crochet hook and this project was born.
If you’re new to crochet, this business card holder crochet pattern is one of the easiest and most practical projects you could make. You could even make multiple of these in different colors/patterns to keep them organized! Have fun with it!
Materials
- 2.5 mm crochet hook
- 1 ball fingering weight yarn
- Darning needle
- 28 mm Button
- Sewing needle
- Sewing thread
Abbreviations
- Ch = chain
- hdc = half double crochet
- st= stitch
- sts = stitches
Gauge
13 sts and 10 rows = 2 inches in hdc
Directions
Ch 24 (note: Leave long tail of yarn for sewing later on)
Row 1:
hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across (22 sts)
Row 2:
Ch 2. hdc in first st of previous row and in every st across
Rows 3-28:
Repeat row 2 until the project measures 5.5-6 inches.
note: you may need more or less rows to get to the appropriate length.
Row 29:
Ch 2. hdc in first st of previous row and in each of the next 9 sts. Make button hole by ch 4, skipping the next 4 sts and then hdc in the next st (the 5th st from the last hdc). hdc in each remaining st across until the end of the row.
Row 30-31:
Repeat row 2 (treating each ch from row 29 as a st in row 30) .
Sew up pocket:
Use a business card to measure for your pocket. Fold the bottom of the fabric over the business card so it is covered and place a safety pin at the height where you want to sew to. Remove the business card, fold the fabric back over, and sew the sides up to the level of the safety pin.
Sew on the button:
Fold over the top flap with the button hole and mark where to sew your button on the pocket. Start sewing the button and check that the button hasn’t misaligned as you go. Cut the thread when you are done and you have your business card holder!
Now go forth and be organized!
